The Way of Strategy

Strategy

By applying the principles of strategy to the practice of various arts, I have never needed a teacher in any of those things."

— Miyamoto Musashi

Strategy uses universal concepts to solve problems. It’s a set of universal principles that apply to any field, just like science.

That’s how Musashi was able to master swordsmanship, calligraphy, sculpture, poetry, Zen, carpentry, architecture, town planning and more. Strategy is behind every polymath in history.

“Practise and achieve the Way of Strategy, and there will never be a single thing you do not see.”

Zen

Zen is a method for collecting and unifying one’s normally scattered mind in order to focus it like a powerful telescope, seeing past all ego, self doubt and fear.

This is called the “state of flow,” and it’s the key to productivity and wellbeing. Zen is a strategy that uses how your mind already works to bring yourself into this state directly.

Once you’re there, your own mind illuminates the way forward to surpass each and every problem that presents itself. This is essential for strategy. I call this state, “Hawk Eyes.”
